Afghan girls and women are facing a difficult time in Afghanistan, stripped of their basic rights, they are losing their future. She Forward supports their education and helps them gain the skills and confidence they need to rebuild their lives and contribute to their communities.

The current reality for women in Afghanistan

  • Over 2.5 million young girls and women are banned from education since 2021.
  • Afghanistan is the only country where girls over 12 are denied the right to education and women are barred from work (UNICEF, UN Women).
  • Laws requiring a male guardian for travel and participation in public life strip Afghan women of their freedom of movement and basic social rights (Amnesty International).
  • The surge in gender-based violence and limited access to healthcare, especially reproductive care, has exposed women to severe physical and psychological distress (Human Rights Watch, W
